After her stellar night at the MTV Video Music Awards, you would think the one person Katy Perry would want to celebrate with most would be her husband Russell Brand.
But the singer, 26, was forced to celebrate solo at the after party when the funnyman opted out of the night early.
According to reports, the Arthur star, 36, headed home straight after the awards ceremony at the Nokia Theatre, leaving Perry to toast her success.
The T.G.I.F. singer instead carried on with a group of girlfriends at the House of Hype soiree, held at the SLS Hotel in West Hollywood.
According to the NY Daily News, Perry was spotted with her manager, stylist and some buddies at a table inside the party.
Perhaps taking advantage of Brand's absence, she tucked into a filet mignon steak, the paper reports. Perry is understood to try and adhere to her husband's stick vegetarian diet as much as possible, but allows herself to eat meat occasionally.
Other A-listers at the party were Britney Spears, Malin Akerman, Emma Roberts, Akon and Jamie Foxx - who took a turn behind the DJ decks.
Brand has been vocal on his battle with addiction in the past, and when he does attend industry parties of goes out with friends in LA he is usually seen clutching a glass of water throughout the evening.
It is unknown why Brand chose not to accompany his wife to the after-party, but they were the picture of togetherness when they arrived earlier at the awards ceremony.
Brand chivalrously escorted his wife up onto stage to conduct her pre-show MTV interview, standing proudly by the side of the platform waiting to take her hand and held her back down.
They then posed for photographers on the red carpet, kissing for the cameras.
Brand remained standing, clapping wildly, throughout Perry's first acceptance speech of the evening when she won Best Collaboration with Kanye West for E.T.
And she leaned in to embrace him when her name was announced for the night's top honour - video of the Year.
